Your phone is more powerful than you think

Whether it’s consuming news, catching up on TV or staying in touch with friends, we increasingly prefer to use our mobiles rather than desktop devices, and this trend is starting to propagate through to the world of business software.

These days phones have bigger screens, more storage and more processing power meaning that they can genuinely be used as a tool to manage many aspects of your practice. In fact, the only thing that has generally impeded our ability to use a mobile device for practice management has been the lack of secure, reliable software on the market that you can download from the App Store or Play Store to use on your phone.

One company that is trying to address this is the team at WriteUpp. Since they launched in 2013 with their web-based practice management system they’ve been strong advocates of simplicity. They’ve taken that thinking and applied it to mobile practice management.

In essence, what they have done is thought carefully about what “day to day” tasks can sensibly be achieved on a mobile with a relatively small screen. They have built an app that gets these things done. So, tasks like booking appointments, dictating notes, logging expenses or completing assessments can all comfortably be handled on your mobile without any compromises. For more complicated tasks users can login to the web-based version of WriteUpp and you can configure, tweak and customise to your heart’s content.
The team are quite clear that the mobile app is unlikely to ever have all the capabilities of its web-based compatriot, but they are also very firmly of the view that native apps for iOS and Android will be fundamental going forwards, as mobile adoption (and technology) improves.
If you’re already a subscriber to WriteUpp you can download the mobile app for free from the App Store or Play Store. Alternatively, if you want to give the app a try you can sign up for a free 30 day trial of WriteUpp here and then download the app.
