Helping You Make Informed Decisions

97% of online consumers read reviews and ratings before making a purchase. The healthcare industry is currently lacking a reliable review system.

Our vision is to create a directory based on client reviews and ratings so that you can make successful decisions about your healthcare. We are currently rolling out our review system and are offering practitioners training in the collection of reliable, patient-reported data. We will use these findings to compile a comprehensive review system for the therapists in our directory.

You can view an example of our vision and help us to create it by sharing your experiences of the therapists you connect with through the Private Practice Hub.

What is The Private Practice Hub Directory?

The Private Practice Hub Directory is one of the largest directories of therapists in the UK. Therapists can choose to pay a membership fee to create their listing, but it’s completely free for the public to search our directory for a therapist.

What types of therapy can I search for?

We’ve worked hard to make the Private Practice Hub the leading directory of therapists in the UK. We have practitioners in our directory specialising in hundreds of therapies ranging from psychology to osteopathy, physiotherapy to hypnotherapy.

How do I find a therapist?

You can search our directory by entering your postcode and the area of therapy you are looking for. You can search for a specific type of therapy, such as psychotherapy, or you can search for a particular concern, such as addiction.

How do I get in touch with a therapist I’d like to see?

Practitioners can add their contact details to their listings, including their email address, phone number and a link to their personal website. You can also contact them via the contact box at the bottom of the practitioner's listing.

How does the ratings and review system work?

It is our goal to create a reliable review system so that you can make informed healthcare decisions. We will be encouraging the therapists in our directory to issue a Short Assessment of Patient Satisfaction (SAPS) questionnaire. SAPS is a short and reliable seven-item scale that can be used to assess patient satisfaction with their treatment.

We distribute the SAPS questionnaire to practitioners, who will then circulate this to their clients. These surveys are anonymous and undergo rigorous data quality checks before being added to the corresponding Private Practice Hub Directory listing.

We have inbuilt measures in place to ensure all our surveys are completed properly. Any indication of practitioner foul play with regards to these surveys will ensure the practitioner is removed from the service.

What is a professional body?

A professional body is a group, society or organisation (often non-profit) that represents a particular profession such as psychotherapy, osteopathy and so on. A professional body aims to raise the profile and standing of a profession by ensuring that its members achieve certain standards (or conditions). These standards may include qualifications, experience and ongoing training. Members will usually have to abide by a code of ethics. For example, they may have to provide specific terms and conditions to their clients.

What does accreditation mean?

If a therapist is accredited, it means that they have met the standards set by their professional body and are now ‘registered’ with that professional body. Accreditation will usually need to be renewed yearly.

What is Continuing Professional Development?

Many professional bodies require their members to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. This Continuing Professional Development can be completed through attending training courses, seminars or undertaking relevant work experience.

How do I know if I need to see a therapist?

A therapist can help with a variety of physical, mental and emotional problems. Many people are referred to therapists by their GP, in particular for physiotherapists, osteopaths, psychologists and counsellors. Others seek help from therapists instead of, or alongside, conventional treatments such as medication.

For example, if you suffer from depression, you may have been prescribed antidepressants by your GP. Alongside this, you may also be considering therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help you understand and manage your condition.

The goal of receiving treatment is to provide you with the necessary tools to manage your healthcare. Seeking help is the first step to creating a successful self-care routine, incorporating techniques learnt through your treatment which will allow you more control over your health.
