Do you need a safe confidential place to speak openly, with someone neutral and non-judgemental? You may be looking to make some changes to your life, or have a dilemma to talk through. Maybe you’ve lost someone close, feel isolated anxious, depressed, or stressed, are experiencing overthinking or panic, or have a problem or concern that’s preventing you from moving forward.
How I work: I’m a warm, caring and experienced therapist. I aim to build a trusting and empathic (seeing things from your viewpoint) therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself. I’m quite interactive, so you’ll get so much more than ‘hmms’ and ‘uh-huhs’ from me. Working in a ‘person-centred’ way means listening, understanding, accepting, and believing. Rather than giving advice or opinions, it’s about exploring options together so that you can make your own decisions. This can help with increasing confidence and self-esteem, by learning to trust your own judgement. I always promote self-care, body positivity and assertiveness to help increase self-worth and self-esteem.
Mindfulness is incorporated into our work to help with overthinking, stress, deadlines, anxiety, depression, and chronic conditions. We will work at your pace, and you choose the focus of the session. I have ‘broad shoulders’, am not easily shocked, and never judge whatever clients choose to share with me. Sometimes people are fearful of speaking about their feelings or showing emotion. Please be reassured that this is a normal part of the therapy and healing process and will be welcomed sensitively. Some people feel that asking for help will be seen as a weakness, however I believe it to be a strength. We are all ‘Work-In-Progress’ and everyone needs a bit of help and support from time to time.
Where I practice: From my welcoming and tranquil home therapy room; all therapy is either online via Zoom/Teams, or on the telephone. The benefits are that Online or Telephone therapy clients can be anywhere in the UK, and that you can access counselling from the comfort of your own home.
Response time: Is fast – usually within a couple of hours between 8am and 6pm Mon-Fri and 8am-12pm on Saturdays – so please be reassured that I will get back to you asap. Before your first session, I email a Welcome Pack which includes information on how I work and what to expect, and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have.
Availability: Appointments are available on weekdays and occasional weekends. Sessions usually start on a weekly basis but can then change to fortnightly or as and when – whatever suits your schedule best. Thank you for reading my profile.
