Taking the decision to contact a counsellor for the first time can be daunting. It can feel like a big step into the unknown and takes courage. You may have lots of questions about the process and whether we can work together. I have worked in small private businesses, schools and large corporate organisations and understand the pressures and stresses that juggling work and home life can bring. I have also had to overcome life crises of my own and these experiences help me to empathise with other people’s struggles. I work with adults, children and young people in an integrative way, and believe that by understanding ourselves better, each of us has the ability to resolve the issues and problems that we face in our lives. My approach uses a range of therapeutic methods, tailored to you, including looking at how the past impacts on the present (psychodynamic), changing thoughts and behaviour patterns (CBT), working with the body and what is happening in the moment (Gestalt) and exploring and growing qualities and capabilities you already own (person centred). I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, have enhanced DBS clearance, am fully insured, GDPR compliant and a registered member of the BACP.
I began my counselling journey after bringing up my two children. I have a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and I studied initially as a person-centred counsellor then went on to study an integrative framework which puts the relationship between client and counsellor as the most important aspect of therapy.
