Categories: Behaviour Therapy CBT Therapist Psychotherapy My Services:
I’m a fully-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT therapist) in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. I welcome enquiries and offer FREE initial telephone consultations to help us identify whether CBT could be suited to your needs. I am passionate about CBT and empowering my clients to help themselves through a transition from self as client, to self as own therapist. I facilitate this process using a combination of my CBT training; application of relevant evidence-based research and the use of interpersonal skills within the therapeutic relationship. I made the decision to leave my career in the NHS because I believe that CBT treatment should be delivered flexibly, solely in line with the specific needs of my clients, without the conflicting pressures of NHS service pressures, targets and demands. I work collaboratively with my clients; I am guided by their goals and treatment priorities and aim to ensure that all clients, regardless of budget, leave treatment with valuable insights, and a range of effective coping skills to help maintain their recovery and to prepare them for managing any future setbacks. I am transparent, containing, non-judgemental and authentic in my approach.
Training, qualifications and experience:
I originally-trained as an Occupational Therapist, completing a BSc Hons degree in 2001 at Coventry University. I have worked predominantly in the field of mental health, across a spectrum of services, over the past 20 years. I continue to maintain my core professional identity, and remain registered with both the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT) and The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC.) I completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, at Surrey University in 2011 as part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT); a National Health Service initiative set up to help promote and facilitate greater access to psychological support for common emotional disorders, experienced by the general population.
