My name is Asher and I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor who follows an integrative approach and works with adults. I provide counselling locally in Newcastle upon Tyne (currently online due to COVID-19), by video call, and via online messaging.
If you’re reading this because you’re struggling with mental health difficulties or tough life events, I’d love to talk with you about how we can work together to travel through this.
There are a lot of reasons people look for therapy. Maybe you feel like your mood is always a bit low or you’re struggling to get out of bed or do things you used to enjoy. Perhaps you’ve recently gone through a loss or a breakdown of a relationship. You could be battling with complex feelings surrounding your gender or sexuality and the changes that can bring. You may want to understand why you’re anxious or how your past has affected your present. There’s no right or wrong reason to come to therapy.
If you’ve never been the therapy before, you might be unsure about whether it’s something that can help you. It might seem like it’s just unloading your problems to someone, in the same way you could with your friends or family. The difference in the counselling environment is that you’re sitting with a trained professional who is there to listen and guide in a non-judgemental, open way and can provide exercises and questions that have been shown to be effective.
As an integrative therapist, I view everyone as an individual and tailor my approach to that. I will listen to your history, feelings and issues, and together we will agree what we think we can achieve through therapy and a framework for getting there. While we will roughly follow this framework, you can always bring anything you need to into a session. Life happens, and we will always adapt to that.
If you’d like to talk about the possibility of working together, and see if it seems like it’s for you, please drop me an email, a text, or use this form, and we can arrange a free consultation call or message. There is no obligation for you to start therapy with me – this is just a chance for you to ask any questions you may have.
I look forward to hearing from you.
